Injection Moulding Machinery
Established 35 years ago, KM Furniture Ltd has been at the forefront of supplying educational, storage and office furniture directly to distributors, dealers and PFI projects, whether for just refitting a classroom or supplying a new school.
KM is the UK's largest independent manufacturer of educational furniture with all of the products being manufactured and assembled within a 210000 sq ft modern facility based in Chesterfield. KM has demonstrated a continuing commitment to the market by the relocation of the business in 2002 to modern premises and by the continued investment to the plant and equipment, the transport fleet and to the work force.
KM Furniture was experiencing problems with particle contamination in their injection moulding machinery. Oil samples were taken and the analysis showed ISO levels up to 21/18. As part of their maintenance improvement programme a decision was made to install Kleenoil filtration systems to all their machines which include, Negri Bossi, Bone Craven, Remu and Engel. Installation was carried out by FA-ST during July, August and September of 2005. All installation work was pre-planned and no machine had to be out of commission, so there was no interruption to production.
KM also purchased a MS4 Kleenoil filter rig to enable them to filter new oil in to the machines. Oil analysis of the new oil was ISO 18/14 and one pass through the filter rig brings this down to 16/13. KM also uses the filter rig to recycle ‘contaminated’ oil from leakage and spillage. In recent months they have filtered 5 x 200 litre drums, effectively making a cost saving in excess of £1000. All recycled oil is sampled and analysed before being re-used. Keith Cheetham the works engineer says ‘by installing the filtration units on the machines we will have less maintenance problems, reduced OEM filter changes and by using the MS4 filter rig we can substantially reduce our expenditure on new oil and waste disposal costs ’. |
