East Midlands Airport (EMA) is the region’s international gateway, handling over five million passengers annually and with direct flights to more than 100 destinations in Europe, Scandinavia and North America. EMA is also the UK’s largest pure freight airport, handling nearly a third by weight of the UK’s total pure freight market, and is the primary UK air hub for the Royal Mail. EMA is a major employment generator with some 100 companies employing 7,000 people on the airport site. The East Midlands consistently has a higher level of exports per employee than any other region which is why the Airport has an important role to play in strengthening the ability of the region’s businesses to successfully exploit overseas markets. FA-ST Ltd was awarded their Certificate and Trophy for the Exporter of the Year category at The Business Awards Derbyshire 2008 which took place on Friday 22nd February at the Premiership Football Stadium, Pride Park in Derby.

The finalists and winners were announced following a black tie gala dinner hosted by Gyles Brandreth. Gyles is one of Britain’s most sought-after award ceremony hosts and after-dinner speakers.
