RAISING MONEY FOR ASHGATE HOSPICE

FA-ST Ltd of Chesterfield nominated Ashgate Hospice as their Charity for 2009 and entered a ‘willing volunteer team’ of 8 people, masquerading as KELLYS HEROES. Team members: Kelly Davies (Captain), Matt Gibbons, Andy Fraser, Lisa Fraser, Chris Amner, Dean Clayton, Clive Burkinshaw and Stephen Meeney (Joker).

On the Sunday the 26th April 2009 at Cutthorpe, near Chesterfield, the weather held, the sun shone (a bit) and 9 teams took part (72 people) in a fun filled 3 hours of entertainment and mayhem. The water was cold (Derbyshire water is always cold), the foam got everywhere and the team spirits were high. There were quite a few murmurings within the teams of ‘what have we done!’, ‘who suggested doing this!’, ‘maybe this was not such a good idea!’ and many more which we cannot print.

A very good crowd attended and gave much needed support and cheered all the teams on in all the events.

Taking part was the order of the day and winning an event is always a good feeling for team morale. The games were contested in the pure spirit of competitive fun and at the end of the day, and very much to our surprise (we are a pretty unfit bunch), FA-ST Ltd was announced as the overall WINNER.

We would like to thank all the friends and businesses who sponsored our team and also to thank all the people who sponsored all the other teams.

We would also like to thank the Ashgate Hospice organisers for all their hard work and effort for raising funds for the Hospice. Without them the Hospice would not be able to support our Local Community. It was announced that approximately £10,000 had been generated by the day’s event.

The St John Ambulance was in attendance, just in case of any injury and apart from a few bruises no competitor suffered any injury.

Full credit to Graham Fishers in organising the event and making sure that it was safe and entertainment all the way, not just for the teams but also for the spectators. Knockout is a fun-tastic way of raising much needed funds for your LOCAL Hospice charity. Graham Fishers have worked with many charities & Hospices for over twenty years all over the UK. They present annual & Bi annual events whatever the cause, the years events have raised millions of pounds, raising the charities profile and the public's awareness of their cause.
